To help you with this, weve created the 21 Day Walking Challenge.
This can turn your ambition to walk into a hard-wired habit in just three weeks.
Try it and see!We are challenging you to walk at least once a day for 21 days in a row - and we promise you that if you complete this challenge, youll have a walking habit to be proud of.Aim to walk for at least 30 minutes each day.
You dont have to do it all at once you can build up to 30 minutes or more by being active for at least 10 minutes in the early days.
Just keep increasing the length of your walk, and watch the minutes add up.Keep Walking, Keep Well campaignWe had hoped that the ‘Ireland Lights Up’ walking campaign would start in early 2021 while Operation Transformation aired on RTÉ but due to the Level 5 public health guidelines issued by the Government, this initiative had to be postponed.Now that Spring has finally arrived, in partnership with Healthy Ireland and Sport Ireland, we are delighted to announce a new 6 week Keep Walking, Keep Well walking initiative.
This initiative will take place in April , May and June 2021 with the support of the GAA, Athletics Ireland, Cricket Ireland, Hockey Ireland, the FAI and the IRFU.The GAA, Athletics Ireland, Cricket Ireland, Hockey Ireland, FAI and IRFU will open up their outdoor spaces, tracks and grounds for a 6-week period starting from the26th of April onwards (in line with Government guidance) for communities and club members to walk safely and be active while the country continues to recover.
Find your local sports club and book a walk at a date and time that suits you!
Clubs and venues will be added on a daily basis; be sure to re-check if your local club has registered.
